Our General Interests in Software Engineering

We are interested in improving the practice of discovering accurate properties of what software is supposed to do. This is encompassed in the Requirements Engineering field. We focus on researching, designing and developing techniques and tools for requirements specification and validation.

We also find ourselves in the investigation of the effectiveness of some software development methods and processes. For some reason, we have for a long time advocated object oriented development methods from ground-up, but have been wondering whether some aspects of development such as requirements determination and validation are adequately supported. For instance, the Rational Unified Process, which also proposes the use of OO methods, does not seem to clearly say that use cases are procedural in nature and care must be taken in their use.

Our other interests in software engineering are found in database systems design, especially for web-based applications.
